I have been cold, cruel, heartless even be,
In this world of strangers you and I have been.
I have touched you, drowned you, over and over again in love,
So many times that even my hands have lost their feelings of touch.
I was leading you on,
Did you ever know?

I saw the love in your eyes,
Heard the pain in your whimpers,
When I bid you goodbye...
I could see that you wanted to cry,
So hard, that unbelievably,
Your grief masked the tears...

So I hold only the smallest strand of hope,
As I write these words of my heart,
That somehow, you would know I have realized,
And understand, that no,
Things-don't-change.
But like what has caused your grief that I now regret,
Like a griding stone against my now caring heart,
That sometimes, it is only our perspectives that transform,
Like a broken wish when the clock strikes midnight.
